Gramma and Bopi go home :(

Today Gramma and Bopi (Katie's parents) went back to Indiana. I'm not sure who is going to miss who more! Jack has already told me that he misses them. I know for sure that I miss them. And i'm sure my mom cried at least until she got on the highway if not past that. And i know Greg will miss all the yummy food and having clean clothes all the time. So all in all, it's a sad day for us. We hope that they can visit again very very soon!

Here are some highlights (and lowlights) from during their visit...

Ok, i'll just start with the lowlights. As many of you know... Gabe was pretty jaundiced and had to be attached to a biliblanket which is basically a fiber optic pad that is attached to a machine by this tube that feeds the pad with a photolight therapy thing. The blanket was permanently attached to his back. But then the light on the machine went out, so he had to be put on a bilibed which is even worse than a biliblanket. This was better for him in that his body got more of the light, but he was put on this bed thing and then covered by a blanket that let his head out and his arms. He wasnt a fan of it and neither was I for that matter. But they did their job and now Gabe is perfectly fine. But as you can see in the pictures, this is why i called him my little gloworm!

here's a picture of Daddy and Jack giving "baby gabey" some love and attention while he was strapped to the bed.

Here's a just a close up of Gabe at 5 Days old. This is right after he started to turn into a pumpkin from the jaundice so his eyes are a little yellow in the pic.

Once Gabe was allowed to be off the machine, my mom and I decided to take the boys to the zoo. It was my first big outting and while i couldnt walk too fast, it was nice to be outside. This is just a picture of my mom and Jack playing on the bear statue.

On Thursday (the 25th) my dad got into town. Jack was very very excited for "Bopi" to be here. They played and played and played and gave Gramma a much deserved break. So gramma finally got to soak up some baby time with Gabe! Bopi and Jack played soccer outside lots. By the way, this is Jack's new obsession! He loves anything to do with soccer! We even got him some shoes from old navy that happen to have stripes on the sides and he calls them his soccer shoes and pretty much wont wear any other shoes at all!
We also went on an outting to find Jack a birdhouse. Finally, he and Bopi found one at petsmart and they hung it out on his "clubhouse". Jack was so excited he wanted to show everyone!

Gabe at 1 week

These pictures were also taken by my friend Jen. I havent seen them all yet. We wanted to get a couple of Gabe and Jack too. I'm not sure if none of them turned out, or if i just havent seen them yet. But these turned out super cute (of course i'm a bit biased!)

Belly & Jack pictures

These were taken by a friend of mine on September 10th. Just 4 days before Gabe was born! Phew. I was about to pop!

we also did a couple of just me but jack wasnt too pleased with the idea of not being in the photo. But he hopped on my lap and those pics turned out great too!

You can view more of jen's work at www.photosbyjenrogers.com and www.jenrogersphotography.com

Baby Gabe

Gabriel Scott was born on September 14th, 2008. He was 9 lbs on 1 oz and was 21 inches tall.

Check back here for a compilation of updates on the smallest member of our family. Of course all of the posts will be updates but some of the "biggest" ones i'll also keep track of here as well as some photos.

Here are some of our in hospital pics of Gabe's arrival!

UPDATES!

At Gabe's 8 week check up he was 14 lbs and 12 oz and 25 inches tall!

The Jackster

Jack was born February 24th, 2006 at 11:44 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 5oz and was 21 inches tall.

This post is linked to Jack's photo in the sidebar.

This summer Jack started preschool at St Giles and loved it! This fall he's going to St Giles 2 days a week (tuesday and thursday) from 9-12.
This is jacks picture i took his first day back to school this fall. He could barely stand still for the photo! He just couldnt want to get inside to see Ms Jill (his teacher he loves and adores). Photo was taken on Sept 2nd.

This is Jack and I at one of our last "playdates" before baby Gabe came. We went to the zoo and just enjoyed playing together (even if it was super hot and i felt like i was going to pass out!)

Katie

Katie or "mama" in this family, is also the author of the blog and i hate speaking in third person, so i'm not going to! I am mostly a stay at home mom but am also a professional makeup artist. I work a lot on weekends doing makeup for weddings and other things and occasionally do a makeup job during the week but mostly i get to stay home with my 2 little boys because i'm incredibly lucky my hubby works so hard! I also teach cardmaking and scrapbooking classes at The Scrapbook Company and am a mad crafter. I craft mostly at night when everyone is sound asleep. I lose some precious sleep hours myself, but i love crafting so i cant help it.

My websites are
www.katieshawger.com for makeup
and
papermakeup.blogspot.com is my blog of crafting adventures!

more pictures and such to come soon.

Daddy

Greg or "Daddy" in our family works as a landscaper. He loves our family so much and works so hard to make sure we have everything we want. His latest big hobby is fly fishing. But he also loves other fishing and camping and all that good stuff.

More pictures to come soon!

Just the first post

I'm starting a new blog just to keep track of the fam's adventures. Plus i thought it might be a great way to update our family and friends. So stay tuned for more!
